Dimitris is a holder of a First Class Engineers Certificate and has 23 years of sea-service on bulk carriers, tankers and container ships with the latter years at sea as Chief Engineer.
He graduated from the Aspropyrgos National Marine Engineers Academy in 1972 and thereafter served as Second Engineer and Chief Engineer by 1989 with Pyrsos and Aegean Maritime Co on bulk carriers with Pielstick Engines.
In 1996 he continued his sea service with Cardiff Marine on vessels of various types with Mitsubishi, B&W and Sulzer RTA engines.
After completing his career at sea in 2003, Dimitris gained experience in the position of Engineer Superintendent supervising repairs and performing Ship Inspections.
Since joining Overseas Maritime he has performed Condition Surveys for Club Entry purposes, Pre-Purchase surveys, carried out annual safety surveys for one of the three flags we represent, attended for Hull Underwriters the re-floating of a stranded vessel complicated by a second world war mine resting against her anchor chain, and investigated a major engine breakdown also for Hull Underwriters.
