William Walsh
   

Nationality English, born Liverpool 1974

William joined Overseas Maritime as apprentice surveyor in 1996, and thereafter began to specialise in Yacht and Small Craft Surveys and Cargo Surveys.

He has been involved in diverse dry cargo assignments ranging from Loading and Discharge Surveys, cargo wet damage, shifting, fire. He has particular experience in metal cargoes.

He has performed pre-purchase surveys of small passenger ships and landing craft including multiple surveys for repeat clients.

On the claims side his abilities in CAD drawing, computer graphics, voyage analysis via electronic charting and AIS positioning have involved him in numerous interesting cases.

He is regularly involved in yacht inspections, having performed pre-entry Insurance surveys for major insurers as well as pre-purchase surveys on GRP, Steel, Aluminium and Wood Sailing and Motor yachts in the 10m-70m size range. Additionally owners consultancy on manufacturer warranty claims.

William holds a diploma with merit from the Practical Yacht and Small Craft Survey Course, held at the International Boatbuilding Training College, Lowestoft and also a diploma for Introduction to Wooden Boat Surveying from the same college. He is a member of British Marine Surveyors Europe

He is a Flag State Inspector for the St. Kitts and Nevis ship registry specialising in yachts.

He is certified by Lloyd's Register as an internal auditor for ISO 9001.

Photography is one of his hobbies which also extends into his daily work where along with general photography using SLR equipment he also takes macro photographs of damages to engine components and other failed metals.

In his free time he maintains the office network, websites and survey equipment.
